Player Guide

Galaxy Harvester is an idle space management game where you build a fleet of ships, harvest resources from distant planets, and grow your galactic empire.

Core Gameplay Loop

  • Buy ships
  • Send them to planets
  • Harvest resources
  • Return to station
  • Earn money
  • Upgrade and automate

Ships

Each ship has:

  • Speed (travel time)
  • Storage (cargo capacity)
  • Harvest rate (resource collection speed)

Planets

Every time the player starts a new game, they will get a randomly generated planet system! Every planet will get a random assortment of resources.

Economy

Resources are converted into money when ships returns. Higher value resources generate more income. Upgrade ships to increase efficiency and profits.

Ship Management

Each ship can be upgraded:

  • Speed → faster travel
  • Storage → more cargo
  • Harvest → faster collection

Upgrades become more expensive over time. There is a limit to how many ships you can have. But you can also scrap ships to enable different strategies.

Autopilot

Unlock automation for ships:

  • Ships automatically repeat harvesting loops
  • Reduces micromanagement
  • Essential for late-game progression

Achievements

Unlock rewards by progressing through the game. Achievements track your galactic progress and milestones.

End Goal

There is no single endpoint — build the most efficient, automated galactic fleet possible and maximise your income.

Gamedev.js Jam 2026 Theme - Machines

The game is centered around space machines harvesting resources from planets.

To Do

Due to time constraints, I did not manage to introduce some kind of "prestige" leveling to properly close the game loop.

AI usage

  • AI was used to create the game logo/favicon.
  • All other assets come from Kenney Game Assets All-in-1 pack.

Notes from the developer...

I'm a web developer by trade with some photography done on the side. While game development was always something I wanted to try, I never got the time. After staring at lines of code for 5 days a week, last thing I wanted to do is work on more code in my spare time. :)

But I finally bit the bullet to create couple of games. Make sure to check them out - https://kamilgrajdev.itch.io/ Having no experience in games dev, I fully expect some bugs/issues to crop up.
